'The Scope' Provoking West vs. Downtown Debate

Josh Flory, a writer for the News Sentinel, has obviously decided not to run my comment on his 'Take that, Turkey Creek' article. Due to the fact that I thought it would appear on his blog I did not save the comment anywhere. But that won't stop me from blasting off here.

I am completely exacerbated over the long-running Farragut/West Knoxville vs. Downtown battle. With that, I commented on Josh's article where he clearly fuels this back-and-forth match in his post title and quoted material from Blount Hunter's Knoxville analysis.

One thing that has perturbed me for years is the great divide Knoxville embellishes. It seems that "West Knoxvillians" could care less about the Downtown area and vice versa. Yet, many individuals in the community want the best for the entire city of Knoxville and the surrounding area. However, few people want to work together to make that vision a reality.

So please Knoxville, trade your neighborhood-centric swords for friendly hand shakes and start making things happen. Enjoy Market Square, Turkey Creek, The Old City and Bearden Hill without for one second comparing any of them. Envision what should be, not what is. Be remarkable and make a change.

  1. Sorry about the mix-up -- did you post the comment on my blog or send an email?

If you want everyone to read the comment, please type it in the "Comments" section at the bottom, with your name. I typically don't take email messages and post them myself, but I wasn't trying to cover up your thoughts.

If you'd like, you can still comment on "Take that, Turkey Creek."

    Thanks,

    Josh
